CARNEGIE PUBLIC LIBRARY SUMMER READING PROGRAM
The Carnegie Public Children’s Library hosts a large variety of fun and interactive programs during the Summer Reading Program. (SRP). Children of all ages and their parents are able to attend these events at no cost. Once again we are anticipating many participants for this SRP 2014. In the 6 week SRP 2013 program, the following statistics were recorded:
112 participants in attendance (Ages 0-15)
1116 hours read by Kids (5-10)
918 hours read by Teens (11-15)
120 hours read by Babies (0-4)
At this time, we are in the very early stages of planning for the SRP 2014, “Fizz, Boom, Read!” (The theme is Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) In
order to provide a quality program we try to invite guest speakers, have adequate supplies, and offer incentive items to make the SRP a successful
experience for all ages.
Being that the yearly Carnegie Public Library SRP is so important to our community and money is needed to enhance the reading skills of children, any
funds that could support the 2014 SRP would be most appreciated. Thank you for supporting our summer reading program.

We are very excited to announce that the Carnegie Children's Library now has an "Early Literacy Center" for parents, children, and families. The Literacy Center's purpose is to provide great books and resources for parents and for their young children that are just beginning to learn about the joy that reading and books can bring. We are putting the final touches on our center now and on Wednesday, March 26th from 10:00-2:00 we will officially celebrate the "opening" of this new little center. So please come on in and see what we have to offer. We will have new books and resources available and refreshments will be served. Thank you for the part you have played in making this center possible. We hope to see you here!
